Remarkably, less than 12 months ago, after signing the licensing agreement in March 2007, a container full of essential components was loaded and shipped from Breckenridge USA and an expertly built 1240DBJ was just completed in February 2008. It has been an amazing journey.
With over 16 years of expertise, Breckenridge is the largest producer of recreational cottages in North America. As we expand internationally, and specifically in Japan, Breckenridge is thrilled to be partnering with DBJ Inc. Eleven years ago, we had the privilege of working directly with Mr. Harada and provided products that were specifically tailored for the Nagano Winter Olympics. This venture provided an enjoyable and workable foundation of trust. May our successful relationship continue and provide Japanese citizens with many new jobs in the future.
Thank you all for your support and involvement in this new and exciting venture. Mr. Harada and DBJ, may your investment in manufacturing Breckenridge products in Japan enjoy many, many years of success. Congratulations on your early production accomplishments.

According to Tim Howard, president of the Thor Industries Inc. subsidiary in Nappanee, Ind., the unique custom glass cottage was designed by noted architect Christopher Deam. "Chris had the vision for this, but I didn't," Howard noted. "I said 'thanks, but no thanks.'" Some months later, however, Deam came back to Howard — this time with Target stores in tow. "Target wanted to do an open house in Manhattan for Design Week, and they wanted us to build these units for them," he said. "And, since they were willing to pay for my R&D, I thought that this time maybe I better pay attention." Afterwards, Howard sent the cottage around the country, showcasing it to dealers, "and never broke the first pane of glass. That gave us the confidence to bring it to market," Howard added. Although the 400-square-foot unit features a full wall of sliding glass doors, light-blocking power shades quickly allow for complete privacy. MSRP is expected to be between $70,000-$80,000. The 320-square-foot "destination trailer," slated for unveiling at this month's National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., by the Thor Industries Inc. subsidiary, features a bunk-bed bedroom 14 inches below the trailer's floor level with stairs up to a 41-inch loft above the bunkroom. Breckenridge said the floorplan, which will carry an RVIA seal, can be modified to comply with Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA) standards and dimensions. The unit also features eight feet of headspace from front to rear that allows for up to a dozen transom windows to let in passive light. The Bayridge has a residential feel with single-hung windows, shutters and large kitchen. The show unit will offer a single bed in the rear and the double bunk in the front. A bedroom slideout is available. Breckenridge said either model can be towed by a 3/4-ton pickup. Pricing is unavailable. |
